Our Story.

The Story Behind Debbie Anne’s Personal Assistants

Debbie Anne’s Personal Assistants was created from a place of love, loss, and a determination to make care better for the people who need it most.

For years, both of us worked within care homes and agencies. We saw the same heartbreaking pattern again and again — rushed visits, corners cut, and a lack of empathy that left vulnerable people feeling like tasks instead of human beings. We carried those experiences home with us. They stayed with us, weighed on us, and changed us. We knew care could be better. We knew people deserved more.

Everything shifted when we met a very special client — someone who became far more than a person we supported. He trusted us, believed in us, and saw the heart we put into our work. Over time, he became a reminder of why we chose this profession in the first place: to make someone’s day easier, to bring comfort, to be a steady presence when life becomes fragile. In his final days, he shared a wish with us — a wish that would change the course of our lives. He told us to take what we had learned, what we cared about, and what we stood for, and build something of our own. Something that would make a real difference. Something that would change the way care feels.

His wish became our promise.

After he passed, we carried his words with us. They became the spark that lit the beginning of Debbie Anne’s Personal Assistants. We knew we couldn’t stay in environments where rushing was normal and compassion was optional. We had seen too much — the loneliness, the fear, the lack of time, the lack of dignity. We had felt the emotional toll of watching people receive less care than they deserved. And we knew that if we didn’t step forward and create something better, nothing would change.

So we built a different kind of care.

A service where people in need are treated with respect, time, and warmth.

A service where support is personal, not pressured.

A service where families feel relief instead of worry.

A service where every client is cared for the way we cared for him — with heart.

We wanted to bring humanity back into community care. To slow things down. To listen. To notice the little things that matter. To create a space where people feel safe, valued, and understood. And to give families the reassurance that their loved one is being supported by someone who genuinely cares.

Today, Debbie Anne’s Personal Assistants stands as a tribute to the people who shaped us, the experiences that moved us, and the promise we made to a man who believed in us. His memory guides us in every visit, every conversation, and every act of care. We are here to honour him, to honour the people we support, and to bring compassion back into community care — one person at a time.
